First thing- I just found this website last night, so 'hello' to everyone. So far I have been very impressed with the quality of modeling found on this forum with only one small problem...nobody does Texas Highway Patrol. I've searched, and searched, and searched, and I'm feeling a little lonely. Has anyone else made or attempted a TX DPS Cruiser?

Welcome to RP. The Texas HP has a interesting history of Patrol Car colors and designs, the most famous the black and white with the Texas emblem on the door. My father worked for the THP and I might be interested in seeing and even buying one from you from his era.

I see in your profile that you are a trooper. You should send a PM to DC Law or Bearcat and get verified status. There is a private section for LEO's that have been verified to actually be LEO's with great information and topics.

Thanks for the heads up on getting verified. I'll be sure to take care of that soon. When did your father work THP? Let me know the model vehicle your looking for and I'll see what I kind do.

Bandera, your work is superb!!! I like building my own for the most part, but I definitely would not mind having one of yours!

Dad left in about '76. He was a Sgt and they drove plain cars, but I would love to give him a early '70's Grand Fury fully marked unit model.

Unfortunately die cast companies didn't then or do not now make a 70's era Gran Fury in the larger scale. I'm not sure about the smaller 1/43 scales. I have a friend that is a Texas Game Warden and wants a 79 Dodge like his first patrol car. I'm investigating whether I can modify that 74 Dodge Blues Brothers car to make it a 79. Anyway, the closest you can come would be the '74 Dodge Monoco which I think back then DPS did use those also. I can do a Texas DPS 74 Dodge for your Dad. E-mail me at: llptxmike@hotmail.com if you think you might be interested. :)
