Hi,
I am a Fatal/Serious Crash investigator for my Dept. We presently do all our scale drawings by hand. (Compass, Blue Blitz and a pencil) In a word they look like crap. I am looking for some type of windows based drawing software that has a small learinng curve. Do anyone have any or can recommend software that they like/use? I would like some type of drag and drop software. Stay Safe!
Thanks,
Lou

We use this one and it's really easy to use:

Also make sure you contact DC Law, Bearcat06, Joeyd6 or Switchback about getting verified. You'd get more help on the verified side of the boards.

VistaFX is great, especially if you are going to import dimensions and points from a Total Station. It is a bit pricey, but well worth the money.

We use easy street. It's combined with our TRACS software. Just like the name says..........it's very easy to use.

We use <a style='text-decoration: none; border-bottom: 3px double;' href="http://www.serverlogic3.com/lm/rtl3.asp?si=24&k=easy%20street" onmouseover="window.status='easy street'; return true;" onmouseout="window.status=''; return true;">easy street</a>. Same here . We're only one of 4 depts in TN electronically submitting our traffic accident reports. I like ESD (for TRACS) alot better than Vista.

Dia Diagrams is a free, general purpose diagram program.
I don't know if it would be of use to you, but I figured I would throw it out there just in case.

I love the tracs program. I can't recall working a crash involving someone from TN. Does TN have their D/L's, and vehicle registrations barcoded? That alone has cut down on my time at a crash. Awesome program!

Not yet as far as the barcodes are concerned. Having Tracs is freakin awesome though compared to the handwritten forms. Before Tracs came along, our handwritten forms including the diagram were 3 pages front & back.

How about I had to use the ditch and stream icons for a 1 car crash last month. Driving down a snow covered road through an apartment complex and when I saw tire tracks leading from road to uh THE HILLSIDE I got that feeling. The HOLY CRAP theres a car over the embankement feeling. I get out and the car is sitting about 20-30 ft. down an embankment. The Easy Street draw was nice for that one.
BTW- Driver came back to get his car, drunks, gotta love them

Not a scratch on him and he barely even noticed, I'll bet!
It does sound like the program made drawing that much easier.
Our department uses Smartcop's Crashzone. Good program, not too difficult to learn and it draws a good diagram.
