As the director of a college CJ department and a CJ instructor, I'm used to providing students with academic advice (including career-placement intel) and other information related to this academic field. I'll be glad to offer anyone with any inquiries whatever help I can, even if you're trying to find a good CJ program to enroll in (and no, I won't try to sell anyone my college's programs, as it's not my job to do so).

Feel free to send me a PM, or just post a thread in this forum. :)

I'm just a CJ instructor. But I'll help if I can. ROS is your best bet. If you'd like his home telephone number for late night, last-minute questions, send me a PM. :D

I think this is a great idea.

I just hope it doesn't turn into a homework hotline for one time posters. :)

This is a good idea. Currently, I am going though the background investigation for my internship.

Ditto what ROS said. I teach both History and Criminal Justice. I'd also be happy to help with any questions or concerns, though I was actually a firefighter before turning into a professor. That is a long story for another time. Let me just say that getting graduate degrees was a much bigger pain in the a$$ than the fire academy.

Now go do your homework and stop messing around on the internet.

I say we write a master "Interview of a Police Officer" post for this thread. So, when a student asks the infamous question, "Please Help! Assignment due tomorrow," we just link them to the page for the students to simply copy the answers. :D

lol but then it's not really an interview, it's a "search".... per Krystal. ;)

Those of you that teach CJ courses, what courses do you teach specifically?

Also what is the possibility of getting into a MS in CJ with an undergrad unrelated degree?I guess you're chances would be pretty good, as my BS is in Psychology, and my MS in CJ. I did have to take about 5 or so prerequisite undergrad CJ courses (in addition to the other grad school entry requirements), but it can be done if you're willing to do the extra work required.

For privacy purposes, I'd rather not, but I'd be happy to send you some info on some reputable online programs. Shoot me a PM and I'll see if I can cater a list to what you're looking for.

I agree, we should write a sticky for the infamous "Should I major in CJ to be a cop?" question too.
