I always have taken protein supplemnets usually after I am done weightlifting/cardio and what not. I usually take it in mass quantities about two times a day along with my meals. The second time being about 25 minutes after my workout. My question here being whether it is better I should cosume lesser amounts of protein in each serving and more than two times a day or should I stay the same? I have been told that taking it in mass quantites (bout 40-55 grams per serving) is basicaslly gearing up for a expensive sh*t. Any input? Thanks.

Having more than 40g of protein in any setting has it's good and bad effects. The good is that protein helps to kick up your metabolism, so eating more protein helps you to burn more calories. The bad is that muscle growth isn't benefited any further after 40g. The reason being is that your saturating your system with protein, and your body is accustomed to using only so much before it sends of the excess to be burned off.

Argo, I would recommend eating less protein in a sitting, but eating more often throughout the day (every 2-3 hours). This will equate to you eating the same amout of protein at the end of the day, but will space it out to optimize muscle growth.

For the most part I would agree with Ros. (There is a ongoing debate about how much protein per serving is to much.) I would still take a large serving after the work out. Divide the other serving into two smaller portions and take one between breakfast and lunch and the other right before bed. I know that you've probably heard not to eat before bed but to some extent this is wrong. If your trying to gain weight/muscle then your body needs energy through out the night. It can actually burn muscle while you sleep. Most experts recommend taking casein protein right before bed. (Casein protein is a slow digesting protein that will supply your body with energy through out the night). Goodluck

If you're using protein powder, try mixing it with glutamine powder when making your shakes. Helps with recovery time as well as digestion and muscle building.
