Hey guys, what do you do about your K9 partner's water freezing during these cold months? I normally use a 5 gallon bucket for Baks' water, but it's obviously a losing battle now :).

There are some really nice heated water buckets - I would get the horse variety sold at place like farm and fleet (fleat?), tractor supply, state line tack, etc...they're sturdier and the cords are covered in chew resistant metal.
Sorry, I can't seem to get the "insert link" button to work since the site underwent changes. This is a nice heated bucket, but the cord isn't completely surrounded by anything - if he's a chewer I would back the bucket up to the cage and keep the cord out of harms way. http://www.statelinetack.com/global/product_detail.jsp?ASSORTMENT%3C%3East_id=25343743 02024176&FOLDER%3C%3Efolder_id=2534374302029102&PRODUCT%3C%3Eprd_id=845524441811364&bmUID=1134566426651&itemNo=1&Ntt=heated&In=Horse&previousText=heated&N=2024176
This one is actually a better cord (completely covered), but it's a hefty price tag. http://www.statelinetack.com/global/product_detail.jsp?PRODUCT%3C%3Eprd_id=84552444177 4590&FOLDER%3C%3Efolder_id=2534374302029102&ASSORTMENT%3C%3East_id=2534374302024176&bmUID=1134579960371

I don't really have a big problem with water freezing in Texas, but in Ohio when I worked at my grandparents kennel, we did frequent water changes through out the day. They had over 50 dogs (at any given time) and heated buckets were not an option.
Pipe (tape) heaters are cheap and can be wrapped around a galvanized metal bucket.

What's the best place to get something like this and what is it exactly?

It is like an electric blanket for pipes! You can find them at your local hardware stores.
Here is a link to an unknown store...just so you know what they look like!;)

Thanks for the link...
So you literally just take some of this stuff and wrap it around the bowls? How does it work? Does the entire outside of the bowl need to be covered in it or just a few strips spaced out?
