Does anyone know of any police departments that will hire you prior to receiving your citizenship? thanks-

Mine will hire you, but you have to attain your citizenship within one year of hire. It takes 5 years, btw to get it.

Same situation as me.

Colorado: you can be a cop as a permanent resident
California: you must have APPLIED for citizenship, not necessarily gotten it yet
Alaska: you must have shown "intent" to apply
New York: same as Cali

These are the ones I know. Anybody else know anything, please fill it in.

Most departments in South Florida require U.S. citizenship. Others will accept naturalized citizens as well. Your best bet is to call the departments that you're interested in applying to.

The manner in which you attained citizenship isn't relevant, just that you hold citizenship.
