So I'm thinking about applying for the New Jersey State Police.

I just want to run some stats by you guys and see if you think i'm qualified or if I should do some more "preparation".

Age: 23
Height: 6'4"
Weight: 250 (BF% 15)

Credit: Pretty Good... Have a lot of student loans currently...

Education: Graduated from DeSales University (4 year degree).
Degree: Double majored in Marketing and E-Commerce
College Sports: NCAA Div III. Lacrosse

I am very athletic, lift weights 4 days during the week. Jog 4 miles on the weekends.

I think I have the physical aspect of the requirements, but in terms of knowing about "law" - how prepared do you have to be? Will I learn everything I need to know at the academy or will they favor Criminal Justice majors over me before being accepted to the academy?

Thanks in advance!

You didn't mention anything about your level of honesty, integrity or reliability, nor anything about your past (such as criminal record, driving record, etc.).

Character qualities mean much more to your 'desire' than how much you can bench press.

Regardless ... welcome.

I am very honest and reliable, can show this through my past work experiences and college.

I have no volunteer work experience - not sure if that would matter?

Drink socially occasionaly, don't do any sort of drugs.

I have no criminal records - never been arrested.

My driving record has a speeding ticket on it from over 3 years ago. Other than that I just have a citation for not wearing my seat belt - not sure if that would show.

EDIT: I also have a accident on my driving record as well - this was 2 years ago. It was my fault but no ticket was issued.

Thanks for the welcome :)

You sound like a good applicant. Apply and see what happens.

Thanks for the tips. So should I hold off on calling the recruit hotline until a few months before next April?

What type of volunteer work woudl you recommend?
