HI, I just joined this site few minutes ago.
I took the test 3 weeks ago, I'm waiting to get the results soon I hope. I have a question, hopefully one can help me. I have the credits to join the nypd but my gpa is less than 2.0. I was told that I need to work on my gpa if I want to get hire. The problem is I dont have the money to go back to school. What are my chances to get hired with less than a 2.0 GPA.?
Oh and I forgot to mention I'm training with the NYPD Auxiliary Police and graduating this October . Do you guys think that could help me?!

I dont know how strict they are about GPA bc i had almost exact 2.0 and they never said a word to me. You also couldve posted this in the NYPD thread. No big deal though.

I will say this.......if you are hired, I hope you put more effort into the academy than you did in college. I don't mean any offense, but I would hate to see you not take the academy seriously enough, and get fired, when someone else that would be more motivated could have had your spot. Again, no offense, but this is a great job, and if given the opportunity to be a part of this team, it should be taken seriously.

Hey Micki, I took 4022 too. Good luck brother. Im sure the Auxiliary thing will only help you out. I wanted to join the aux police and go to college when i was younger, I joined the military instead. (Theres an idea :) )

Good question... I had the same problem as you. I had over 83 credits but my GPA from all my colleges were below a 2.0. I took the exam on June 21st 2001. I got called to start my paper work within 1 year of taking the exam. Because of my GPA I was put my on 'educational review'. My plan was to return to school and bring my GPA up. Needless to say, I never made it back to school. May 2004 I received a call from my investigator asking if I had done anything to bring up my GPA. She informed me that the department reviewed all my transcripts and came up with their own GPA with 10 additional credits. So my advice to you is to try to have the department come up with their own GPA. It’s all a numbers game. Good luck!

From what I see it looks like it takes about 6 months solid to complete everything, if everything goes smoothly. So It is definitely a possibility.

Im not familiar with the waiting list though, so I would not count my chickens before they hatch.

I heard that NYPD is dropping their starting pay to $25,000. The line may get shorter when that happens. You cannot rent a cardboard near the Lincoln Tunnel on that salary.

everyone who is processed must take a medical and mini-med...sometimes if your initial medical is sceduled about a month or less before the day of hire, they will have you do the Medical and the Mini-med on the same day...

Ok Thanks Because They Scheduled My Mini Medical For 7/6 That's A Little Too Close To 7/11 . Im Just Praying I Make It To The July Class Especially After All I Have Read Concerning The Jan 2006 Class Salaries
