As of 0900 this morning, I am a sworn and certified LEO for the city of Bellefonte, KY. I can't thank you guys enough for all of your help in getting me to where I am today. Seems like it has been a lifetime of waiting, but now that it's here I don't know what to do with myself. I've taken more pride in myself today than I ever have before. I can't wait to get to academy (which will probably be 8 months to a year) and continue to prove myself there as well. Sorry for being long-winded, but I'm running on 3 hours of sleep. Just wanted to thank all of you from the bottom of my heart before I go pass out. Verified status, TBA. :-) Thanks again and keep it up!

How can you be "certified" if you haven't been through the academy yet (I know what you're were trying to say, I'm just being a smar@$$ :D )?

Congrats on making it through the obstacle course that is LE hiring! We'll see you later on the Verified side

Kentucky is kind of backwards. The only thing I won't be able to do until I graduate academy is make Domestic Violence arrests. Aside from that I'll have a whopping 2 weeks of training before I get tossed out on my own with full jurisdiction of the city. Luckily I'm starting out in a smaller town so hopefully I'll have time to pick up and learn as I go.

I was sworn in and after 2 weeks of FTO , was out on my own for 2 weeks in uniform etc BEFORE I went to the academy. ( I was not certified). Granted this was 1986 and they don't allow this anymore but maybe KY is more backwards than PA ?? :)

Congrats on your getting hired.
