There's a good chance I'll be relocating in the near future. I could go to pretty much any decent-size city, and was wondering if I could get some info about the places you guys live / work.
Obviously, I'm interested in the amount / type / distribution of crime, but also things like traffic and whatever else might not be apparent from looking at statistics.

I would have to say that I don't have any serious complaints about Nashville, TN. Born and raised here and I don't think I will ever move too far away. Traffic is bad just like everywhere else, but they have been doing major work in the last few years that should make it better in the future.
The cost of living is not bad, especially for the officers that work for the city or other surrounding PD's. My .02

Do yourself a favor, and stay the hell away from DC. This town is only for the extremely rich, or for the flat broke.

Could always go for NYC, and if you want crime statistics, we have those in detail, thanks to a little thing we like to call COMPSTAT.... whereby you get to either show that crime is going down in your area, creating a trend that can not possibly be sustained indefinitely, or that it is going up, in which case the CO and his staff catch hell, and it trickles on down to patrol to make improvements.

Enjoy!

Great replies so far--the local opinions you've given are exactly what I'm looking for.
Is there anyone from Texas or Arizona that could say anything? The major cities in those states seem to have a lot of EE jobs.
