hi all! newbie here. :D
just wanted to get some feedback on a gift i got for my boyfriend (nypd - on for 5 years). amongst his many other xmas treats, i got him a st.michael necklace. as of now he only carries an old, beat-up lookin pendant inside of his vest. so i got him a brand spankin new one, and now want to make it more personal. i want to get it engraved, but i can't decide what to put on it. i don't want to make it too religious or too corny. any one have any suggestions??? ;) i'd appreciate any feedback!

"To watch over my love when I cannot."
(If the relationship is that far....)

There was a lovely prayer that I read about which was carried in the pocket of the Fire Chaplain who was killed on 9-11, but I don't have it at hand right now. What WOD suggested is very nice also. Just don't get mad if he keeps the old beat up one, some of us are kind of superstitious. I have my original in the vest also, and won't be trading it in anytime soon.

hmmm... i really like that, wod! says enough without being corny.
suggestions that i've heard so far:
"lord, may your angel in heaven protect my angel in blue" (kinda like this)
"may one angel watch over another"
"courage, strength, dedication" (very business-like)
"who is like god?" (which is what st.michael's name means - very religious)
wild800, i would not be insulted at all if he held on to old one. but he did ask for a new one so i figured i'd make it special for him. :)

Maybe put his badge number on it along with some poem, like others have suggested.
