tonight i'm sitting here eating a nice pot roast with potatoes and veggies alone...
i should have learned from my mom years ago to never make a pot roast on a day a police officer is supposed to be working....and if they're on call...just don't make a pot roast period...ever...
because it never fails...you slave over a hot stove for half the day...and they don't come home or they get called in :P
are there any things any of you have learned never to do if you want the other half home? ;)

Dont ever ever let them say.... "It should be a slow night, Ill be home on time." Without fail... its a curse and hes always stuck there late.
And because Im superstitious, I never tell him "Goodbye" when he leaves, just "I love you and stay safe."
Don't ever plan a vacation, it'll be your next scheduled court date.

Oh, so true!
Once my husband made plans to take me out for a fancy dinner and dancing on my birthday...RIGHT AFTER HIS SHIFT WAS OVER. He instructed his partner that he HAD to be out on time. All went well..he checked in with me only 30 minutes from end of shift. I was dressed up and ready for my romantic night.
His partner, who knew about his plans, decided to take a domestic disturbance call at 20 minutes til end of shift - that ended up taking 5 hours! Needless to say my husband was ready to strangle her - and I ended up sitting home alone that night, on my birthday.
This was the first year we were married. And a good look at what I was in for, being married to an officer. (although - he did make it up to me the next weekend!)
