I remember a radio show that had callers call in & start a sentence with "I'm so old I can remember when", and it was a lot of fun. I thought maybe it would be fun here too, so, nice guy that I am, I'll get things rolling....
"I'm so old, I can remember when," They didn't have remote controls for the tv & you had to get up & change the channel yourself.

I can remember when teachers could grade us and not worry about hurting our self esteem.
I remember growing up with ONE television in the house. That meant I was outnumbered when it came to watching what I wanted. I can't even begin to tell you how many football and hockey games I had to watch. I now thank my brothers for torturing me the way they did like that, because I have a deep appreciation for both sports.

I'm so old I can remember my mother giving me a Quarter for mowing the lawn. I'd then hop on my Sears Screamer (http://clasicbike.homestead.com/files/screamer1.jpg) and ride down the street to the 7-Eleven where I would by myself a bottle of Coke and a small bag of Doritos (plus tax) with just that Quarter. I'd sit outside by my bike and wouldn't leave until I finished them both. And for a few minutes, I had it made big time.

I'm so old I can remember my parents using kerosene lamps for light in the house, attending school in a one-room country school with one teacher for all eight grades and all subjects, and no indoor plumbing at home. We carried water from a well in the front yard, and the only heat was from the fireplace in the living room and the wood-burning stove in the kitchen. Kind of like Little House on the Prairie except this was the late 30's whereas Little House on the Prairie when back to the late 1800s. I must have been around five or six when we got electricity. Sure got cold in Ohio in the winter.
In case no one can tell, I lived on a farm. I got out of there as soon as I could.
