The policing agency that patrols our highways in Ontario is the OPP (Ontario Provincial Police). They usually run a campaign on long weekends targeting aggressive driving. This weekends campaign was called “Cottage Patrol”.

One of the cars stopped was informed that he was stopped for exceeding the posted speed limit during this weekends “Cottage Patrol”. The driver suggested that he should not receive a ticket as he was not on the way to his cottage.

Another driver told the officer that it was not his fault but rather the fault of the car he was driving, a Corvette, and offered as proof three other tickets for speeding that he received in the past 24 hours.

I had a lady clocked at 41\25, she said she couldn't have been going that fast as she had a cup of coffee on her dash and it would have spilled. It didn't fly with me or the judge.

I had a lady tell me she was speeding because there were cars behind her. I advised her that there were no cars behind her. I asked her how fast she was going and she stated she was in 4th gear. I asked her how fast her 4 th gear was and she stated about 45 which is nice but NOT in a posted 25 mph zone.



I had another lady admit she was speeding 72/45 posted work zone because she was getting low on gas.

My favoriteis " I had to go the can really bad ". My repsonse is always " why did u pass 3 or 4 stores then ". Followed by " I hope you can hold it for another 5 minutes while i write your citation.

another is there is a problem with by _________ in my car. Again I reply well ill cut u a break on the _________ ticket just give me a few minutes and they always grin. When i return i give them the citation for operating a unsafe vehicle and ask if the cars good enough to drive or do I need to have it towed.

I had a lady tell me the other day that of COURSE she stopped at that stop sign. She HAD to because she was driving a stick shift.

What?

"I didn't realize I was going that fast, I've been drinking a bit."
