How do you keep yourself cool during the heat summer months of 100 degree or more? I wondering since I keep our drapes closed and door closed with the fans on, our apartment home is 82 degrees including a ceiling fan. While outside is 100 degrees...ouch! (oops, here's go my 2,001 posts.. :D)

Stay in the car with the AC kickin' and the "Blinders" on; chanting, "I see no evil, I see no evil, I see no evil" :D
Wow that is hot.
It rarely gets that hot here next to the lake (michigan).
Have you considered getting a small air conditioner, one room size and just cooling off one main room ?
I got a new vest and it came with 2 gel packs you can put in the freezer. They slip into pockets in front and back of the vest. They stay cool for about 4 hours.

Last summer (it's spring here now) we had days of 40C/104F plus and it got to about 44C/112F at one point. I had the airconditioning working overtime (evaporative) and ceiling fans with curtains (drapes) closed but the house was still almost unbearably hot. My cat was on the tiled floor of the shower alcove and I had to keep soaking my dog in cool water.
No I don't like stinking heat like that. :(

acreature, you're funny. Wondering who taught ya how to chant?
Sorrel, you're lucky to live near Michigan's lake, I bet it's cooler down there. Well, we don't need an A/C in our apartment, our apartment is just the right temperature for us here, but our cats dive in the shower's tub and love it. If I spray water on 'em, they don't mind. They push up their front arms and paws up. lol
Darin? Cold gel packs in the vest?? Hmmm.... someone created a wonderful concept on the vests. Cool
Oscar, I'm sorry the heat can be unbearing during the months. Try to keep your pets cool. BTW, I love stinkin' heat. :D

Darin, who is the manufacturer? My current vest is killing me in these high temperature months. I am looking into purchashing a new vest, but still doing research.

Here their web site (http://body-armor.com/products.php)
It's lighter, more flexible and more comfortable to wear than the Safariland I had before. The Safariland was an older model. My new one has moisture wicking carrier material and they give you 1 extra carrier. It seems to be a well made vest but only time will tell how it holds up.

It got to 104 today...at least last I heard. IT is unbearable...I think I will try what acreature suggested and start chanting. Anything that will help.

I wish we had some heat here. The last 6 weeks or so we have had nothing but rain and generally gloomy weather. Please send some heat our way.

In a matter of speaking......I don't. Hot environments are rather my natural setting, so it's just something I rather enjoy.
I'm more concerned about sun damage than the heat. I'll be out in full khaki on field experditions while the rest of my carefree classmates are in shorts and tank tops and they'll think I'm nuts!
But one trick one might pull to accomplish both. Sunblock. Once on the skin, when any breeze hits it, it produces a cooling sensation.
