I got a speeding ticket by local police at 4:00 AM last Thursday. I am 100% sure that I was not speeding and the police didn't even mention speeding until the end. Everything is too late after he wrote the ticket. Is that possible that I can make a complaint against him besides aguring on the court?

Thanks,
Jerry

If every one that receives a ticket would be aloud to file a complaint????
What are you thinking???

Jerry only two choice come up after receiving a ticket ... You take and pay it or you register a not guilty plea...

Your not very different then every one else coming on a pro police site to file a complaint against a LEO because you received a ticket that you dont want to assume.

And why are you 100% certain that you were not speeding? I'm willing to bet that you are not 100% sure.

Do you know the speed limit in the area? Were there recent changes? Were you monitoring your speedduring the entire duration of your trip? (Did he lock you in earlier and just stop you). Are you sure your tire size is correct? Are you sure your tire air pressure is correct? Are you sure your speedomoter is perfectly calibrated?

And please, for the love of God, don't use that dumb "going with the flow" excuse.

But I am curious how you are 100% sure.

Jerry,

There is now law that says they have to tell you that you were speeding as soon as they stop you, all they have to do is tell you during the stop. How can you be 100% sure you weren't speeding? What are you goign to file a complaint against him for?

Anyone can complain about anything, but most civilian complaints lack any basis for disciplinary action and it doesn't sound like yours does, either.

Just butch up and take your ticket to courtm if you don't agree.

Agreed. Anyone can file a complaint about someone else...

I know I wasn't speeding is because it is 4:00 AM in the morning and I know there will be a police on the road. Of course I knew the speed limit because I drive the same road every day. The officer stop me was because I don't have license plate on my car and the car is brand new. The reason I post here is I know the officer doesn't per form his job right and that might be other victims out there just like me. Of course I will appeal on the court but what will I get no matter I win or lose. This officer can still do the same job on the road.

I was nice once don't aggrivate me, I just came back from a 8 hour vacation....(ban) lol

VICTIM???????? Oh comeone now I think we are streatching it just a wee bit. (gets boots on) So a officer isn't performing his/her duties when they stop a car with no plate on it? OK if you say so pal. I think you have some splaining to do in court. Fight it but your not going to win because you didn't have a plate on your car.

BTW it is perform not per form.

Thank you I'm hear all night. :D

PS no sympathy for the I'm a victim of the POLICE gig. Not buying it. Sorry but thats a way to make the police your enemy.

You're not making any sense. Just because it's 4am and you know there is an officer up the road and you know what the speed limit is doesn't mean you weren't speeding. Give me a break. Coming to a PRO-police forum and stating that you are the "victim" is an exercise in futility. The officer did his job and stopped you for the reason indicated on your ticket as opposed to letting you continue down the road without being stopped. That's proactive police work. I suggest you pay the fine and carry on. Life is too short.

Actually I think the officer did perform his job perfectly right...
Your just trying to make a diversion by stating that the officer did a lousy job and was not "nice" with you...
We've heard them all.... Don't be so worry about the officer conduct... He will be an officer longer then you will probably drive if you don't focus on your speedometer...

You still have the two options I stated up there...
Filling a complaint against a LEO because you are unhappy is not an option... But if you want to make sure that he remember you ....

I always remember very well those who complain.... And I always provide them very good service and help them out with a full extent of my knowledge about how a driver is suppose to drive!!!

Your choice from now on...

Why dont you call the aclu and maybe file a lawsuit against the officer for doing his job and stopping those people that are breaking the law. Sack up, pay your ticket and get a bus schedule. Sounds like you need it.

So that's how you know that you weren't speeding? That is the reason you are 100% sure? Wow, good luck with that one. After court, maybe you can get some victim counseling, or perhaps get the ticket paid by a Victim's Advicate group. It must be so traumatic!

There is a road I drive twice a day. The road is a 60 kph zone, and I am well aware that there is radar on this road several times a month. I do not speed on this road, it would be just asking for a ticket. Except a couple of days ago, call it a brain fade but I looked down at my speedometer and I am doing 85 kph.

Knowing the road, and knowing that radar will be there does not make you 100% sure that you were obeying the speed limit.

oh golly gee, the big bad policeman stopped me for no reason !!! I know for a fact that I was doing the speedlimit because I knew there would be a policeman up the road. If you knew this, why not play it safe and...here's a unique concept....SLOW THE HELL DOWN !!!

Face it. you broke the law, got caught and got a ticket. My suggestion it to live with it, and pay the fine, or fight it in court, instead of whining about it. I better stop now, I'm starting to sound like classic darrell

Complaints serve a very important purpose in disciplining bad police officers. Your complaint hurts the cause of people who legitimately complain because of police misconduct.

Your complaint will be laughed at. Any lawsuit you file will be dismissed. Based upon your demeanor, you will lose in court if you challenge your ticket (though I will not oppose your right to challenge it). And NJ is a tough state for those who violate traffic laws.

Get your tail in the court and pay up!

Your car is brand new, it didn't have a permanent license plate, and "officer doesn't perform the job right" are NOT relevant to the speeding ticket. Speeding ticket is a speeding ticket and that's it. And speeding ticket is a no winning ticket. You will certainly lose in the court. Somewhere I read in the websites, ppl made up excuses that they got tickets, they claimed it have something to do with "brand new muffler with powerful sounds," "brand new funky, rap music," "new body remodel", etc...again, they all are not germane to the speedin' tickets. He clocked you because you sped over the limit and he did his job right.

"I drive on the same road every day...", that's interesting, judge may be eager to hear your story but will be gladly to make you pay the fines, no questions asked. Why? Because some judges heard the similar excuses from other violators.

Well, I would say, "Good luck in the court and be glad you will pay your ticket."

[Now, guys, this is my 2000 post, so I'll be there in the chat tomorrow or are ya guys plannin' to gimme a party? Lemme know in the PM so I won't post after 2000. Hehehee. :D ]
