Toilet bombers on the loose
Authorities are investigating several reports of exploded portable toilets discovered at construction sites in Rotonda West near Englewood Sunday.
Along Boundary Boulevard, toilets at four different sites were destroyed, but debris found at the scenes didn't indicate the kind of explosive used, a report stated.
A witness told a deputy he saw a dark blue Oldsmobile sedan with three occupants near a construction site. He said he also heard "a loud bang" coming from the direction of the car.
At another site, located on Hallendale Drive, debris from the explosion spread across 100 square feet, according to a report. The deputy wrote that a "powerful explosive" had apparently been placed on the floor of the portable toilet. The door, sides and roof were found several feet from the base.
