I know that sounds stupid right? But when u get pulled over numerous times and get told that they are pulling you over for "a modified exhaust" and "a tag light thats out" but when u leave and i look and my tag light is fine.....your pulling my car over for nothing. I can't just say its me because its anyone that drives my car, Its getting annoying.....Just needed to vent! THANKS!

Want to know what REALLY sounds stupid? You whining about LEO's "targeting" your car!! YOU have made the decision to keep your car in such a shape that it attracts the attention of LEO's because it violates multiple infractions of Florida vehicle law! YOU are the one who has made the decision to have an extremely loud exhaust and not get it changed! Did you know there are statutes against that? YOU are the one who is refusing to get your tag light fixed to be within statutes! Did you know that even if the light is working, statute states it must be illuminate the tag so that the tag is visible from 50 feet behind without an external light shining on it? When YOU have fixed YOUR problems, and THEN are still getting pulled over in what you feel is an excessive manner, then you can come back and "vent," as right now you don't have any problems other than your own bad decisions which INVITE LEO's to take interest in your vehicle. In other words, stop breaking the law and then you won't be attracting LE action!

It seems like you do indeed make bad decisions. You just don't take responsibility for them.

You do make bad decisions, evidenced by the fact that you've come to a very pro-law enforcement forum and your first two posts are nothing but whining and moaning and accusing us of breaking the law to violate your constitutional rights. Do you TRULY believe we're that stupid that we're going to throw away a career we've fought very hard to earn for someone as asinine as you and your pithy stupidity that leads you to put obscenitites on your windshield? Oh yes, because that's why I swore an oath to protect stupid people who can't figure out what I do, so that I can risk not only my career, not only my money, not only my house and everything I own, but also my freedom, so that I can illegally violate their rights and have them take me to federal court and sue me for everything I'm worth AND possibly throw me in prison!! It's time you grew up and realized that you're being pulled over for violations of the LAW. And also you need to realize that we officers do not WRITE the laws, that is done by ELECTED officials called legislators! So, if you're going to use the "stupid law that shouldnt exist anymore" argument, grow up and realize that you are the one that controls that by who you vote to be your representative in state Congress and the Governor. Don't take it out on us, because we only ENFORCE the laws that are written. If you're being stopped, it's because you are violating one of them. If you bought the car that way, maybe you should think about changing the exhaust so that it comes into legal standards.

This is the end of your civics lesson for today. Not that I think you'll get it, because you're obviously some young punk that thinks they can do whatever they want and just get away with it due to some lame *** excuse, and don't worry, someone will rescue you from your own stupidity.

Personal responsibilty is like personal hygene. It's down to you to sort it out. If you choose not to, well don't get all huffy when someone points out your failings.

What's the obscene thing on the front of the car and what's the license plate number so the fine officers in Florida will know not to stop it? Have you been pulled over for weaving in your lane yet? Or been cited for having overly loud muffler bearings?

God knows there are plenty o'flakes in the breakfast bowl of life and it will help to know which ones are really the "good" flakes so any info posted will help them put you on the "nice" list instead of the "naughty" list and you can avoid the coal in your stocking that way. Even civilians will appreciate it because I have no problem calling in the weirdo cars that look like the driver is usually drugged/drunk.

What you really need is a special sign (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Here%27s_Your_Sign) that you can place on your car so everyone knows.

I'll stand right up and say it for ALL LEO's on this site if you wish, as I already did, that "NONE of us are going to target you for being different". We only stop people from their free lives for violations of LAW. Again, I (and most others on this board) fought long and hard to attain the position we are in now, and I refuse to throw it all away to pick on someone who I believe is a large walking turd. I am more professional than that, and so are all the LEO's here on Real Police. Who gives a crap if you choose to be different? (In fact, in case you didn't know, I've served my country and my community for all of my adult life now PROVIDING YOU THE FREEDOM TO BE AS DIFFERENT AS YOU WISH!! I spent 21+ years in the Marine Corps, and now am working as a LEO!) As long as you remain WITHIN the law! Which you obviously are not!

As for the law itself, I will not deign to know, and neither should you, why it was written. I can only guess it was written to keep different individuals such as yourself from disturbing the peace of those normal people who want to sleep or hear other things instead of your nasty vehicle exhaust whenever it goes by. So, there just may be merit to it. But that just doesn't matter to a punk like you. You are an INDIVIDUAL and nobody else matters (especially not your kids who learn your nasty habits), so therefore in your limited scope of reality, go screw everyone else. Guess what, loud exhausts just may hurt other people, so there's your reason for the law! If you want to go to congress and fight this law, I wish you luck, but I don't think you have the gumption to do so, because you're just so different. Why don't you go occupy something and crap all over what everyone else had worked so hard to build and maintain.

As for your problems with LEO's not showing up to your calls, I can't even comment on that, other than to say don't hold all of us in contempt for what a few officers may have done. Maybe they believed they didn't have enough to prove a crime at the time you called, who knows. None of us here know because we weren't there and we weren't the officers who responded to your call.

And don't accuse me of your skewed opinion of LEO's. I haven't ever pulled someone over for anything less than an articulable violation of Florida State Statutes. I usually don't give tickets either, unless the person responds like a total tool, as I'm sure you have. Not as a rookie, and not now.

You LEO types are too nice. As a non-LEO, if I see a freak, obnoxious car with profane writing and they do the least amount of stuff of that makes me think they could possibly be impaired (i.e. like a wide right hand turn not into the nearest lane while on a cell phone especially with kids in the car), I just presume the freak driver of the freak car is looped on drugs or alcohol and I'll report it and let police decide how to handle it.

Normal car, with normal driver makes the same wide turn on a cell phone, I'll just chalk it up to be being distracted and I'll live with being annoyed. Yup, I am profiling "freak" and it's not illegal or wrong. It's the same as seeing a homeowner with a can of spray paint painting a gate and a tagger walking down the street. Profiling? Yup. Illegal profiling? nope.

My guess is the freak car and freak driver gets as much attention from call-ins as she does from just random stops. My other guess is that the freak driver get's special attention if the public is reporting her than just random encounters with police.

You would have done fine if it was now the way it was when I started. We got away with a lot of smart@ss stuff like that for the first 10-12 years I was on. As time went on, I had to tone it down. Towards the end, it was insufferable.

What does pulling you over have anything to do with helping people they were sworn to protect?

They can't protect people from themselves if those people won't allow them to help.

The LEO's that have answered your "rant" (which I wouldn't have, but that's me and I'm not an LEO, but I cannot hold back any longer), have advised you on how to not get pulled over anymore - but you refuse to accept the fact that you're indeed the one in the wrong.

I've always lived my life under the assumption that if I don't give them a reason to pull me over, they won't. Guess what - the four times in my life that I've been pulled over, three of those times I was breaking a law. Whose fault is that? MINE!

The fourth time I was pulled over, I was not breaking a law, I just had the misfortune of driving the same make and model of car that a criminal was spotted leaving the scene of his crime in. Was I pissed that I was pulled over for no wrong doing of my own? Yep, and it sucked getting my car searched and having to sit on a curb with 12 cop cars surrounding us - but - they figured it out and I was on my way. No worse for the wear. Do I hate cops now? Nope, or I wouldn't be here.

Let them do their jobs and if you've done nothing wrong, you'll be on your merry way.

I am not saying that i am not wrong i absolutely agree that my exhaust is illegal but when u pull me over and thats the only reason you pull me over ... isnt it a waste of time when they could be out looking for drunks and ppl using illegal drugs like the one above mentioined i was? I never drink and i never use illegal drugs i just chose to make my car stand out and bc of it ive been pulled over 10 seperate times just for them to run my license and waste 15 mins or more of my time for no reason whats so ever. You had to deal with that one time could you imagine the frustration of having it done to you several times? I do not speed and i drive at least 80 miles a day becuase of the type of work that i do.....I dont hate cops i just feel like they are here for no reason anymore esp since if you had read my posts you would have seen that i said when i needed them bc i watched 3 people try to break into my car while i was standing inside one of my jobs i was told to call them if they came back...the least they could of done was drive in the direction they ran and looked around to make sure they werent tring to steal someone elses car and thats not the only time something like that has happened....my father called them when his house was broken into and again nothing was done but when he found the kid with this laptops that were taken then they wanted to finger print the window he crawled in through and prosicute (SP?) the kid, only after he did things for HIMSELF! Tampa PD is bogus! And maybe i shouldnt take my frustrations out on all cops but what do you expect after several encounters like this and a LEO based website where they talk to you like a degenerate? They could of just of easily ignored my rant or at the least stuck by the old rule "if you have nothing nice to say then dont say nothing at all". These ppl dont know me and have no reason to assume i drink or do drugs or teach my child bad habbits....

You know if they didn't have to take the time to stop people who break all these little pesky laws then they COULD spend more time finding the one that break the big scary laws. :rolleyes5:

Oh and those little pesky laws like loud mufflers laws ARE there to help people. For instance: Lets say you are a night shift worker and some yahoo drives by with that crappy sounding muffler waking you up because you sleep during the day. OR you just put your baby down for a nap that's been crying half the day because it's teething and that same yahoo drives by with that crappy muffler. Yeah you would be happy they have laws against those maroons.

And how do you know they didn't? How do you know if the next call that was pending wasn't a domestic in progress, or a choking infant? Should they stick around and look for some kids that were probably home laughing their a$$es off while someone is a mile away in a REAL emergency?

Since you keep bringing this up I want to comment. I am just curious, when you saw the individuals trying to get in your car and you called the police what actions do you feel they should have taken? Did you get a description to include clothing type/color, race, approximate age, anything else distinguishing like facial hair, glasses, tattoos etc.?

See the issue is too many times we get such a vague description that even if we look for the actors, we still don't really know who we are looking for.

You came here right off the bat with an attitude and were met with one back. What do you expect from cops? You pull that on the street and the same will happen but my guess it you wont pull that on the street.

I want to know what kind of car you have, including the year. I need a mental picture of this bad boy.

Guess how we find those people who've broken bigger laws such as driving drunk or taking drugs, or even murderers? Yep, traffic stops. Ted Bundy was arrested because some officer stopped him for having a tail light out. Dumb criminals LOVE to make their cars stand out, and the smart ones are usually too worried about other stuff to worry about getting burnt out lights fixed or illegal exhaust systems changed. THAT is why you get pulled over for violating those statutes, because you make such a target out of yourself.
