Hello, my name is Brandon and i'm sure this question is asked way too much, however I'm sure all of you won't hesitate to answer. I want to know my chances of getting into ADP. Either way I'll try my hardest but it's always good to know where you stand. I'll start off with my record or lack thereof. At age 12 I stole from a store, got caught, and the officer called my mom, however she didn't pick up. So he put me in cuffs and drove me home. Honestly I had the utmost respect for that officer. When I was 14 I was arrested for being intoxicated. I didn't have to serve any community service time and it's not on my record. I smoked marijuana twice at age 13 and once at age 15 (I felt so bad afterwards.) I have no traffic violations or speeding tickets in my 6 years of driving. I'm 22, physically fit (half marathon, biking, pushups, etc.) and of excellent moral character. I have 50 hours of college under my belt and a high school diploma. I'm wellspoken. I'm not very old in the fact I've only held 4 jobs. Bagger, dishwasher, Physical Therapist Technichian, and now a server at a restaurant. My passion is to uphold justice and also teach the community officers aren't bad (like many people I know believe, sadly.) It would be such an honor to call myself a police officer! Thank you all in advance for your answers.
**not sure anyone is still reading this but I was never arrested. As being arrested means you're read your meranda rights, cuffed, and charged with a misdemeanor or felony. I however was not. I was always turned over to my parents. So I've never ever ever been charged with ANYTHING.**

You can't say you have an "excellent moral character" due to the criminal activity you have been involved with. Second if you were arrested or cited when you were 14 and drunk it IS on your record.
While the cannabis use at a young age may not be a DQ I think you will run into some issues with "getting drunk" at 14 and shoplifting at 21.
You are only 22 so the last crime you commited was only a year ago, I honestly can't see any department hiring you any time soon.
If you give it a few years, keep a stable job, commit no more criminal activity and get a degree you may meet the "minimum" qualifications.
You must realize LE is a VERY competitive field and there will be people you are competing with that have never done drugs, never commited a crime or been arrested with degrees and military backgrounds.

Am I missing something in his post? The crimes he committed were all when he was 12 through 15, not a single mention of one in his 20's. Just wondering if your dyslexia kicked in here?!?!? :smilielol5:
I definitely and strongly agree with CPL tho that you can't claim an "excellent moral character" with two crimes and basically arrests in your past. Might want to use your ability to be well spoken to come up with a different talking point there.

Let me digress, my eyes arent connecting with my brain I guess. The way it was written with "when I was 12 I" looked like "when I was 21"...
I apologize!
P.S. The lesson here is a real man will admit when he is wrong...I guess the misses taught me well..

I see the point here. I was presently talking about myself. Though I made some mistakes when I was younger I have kept completely out of trouble, served the community, volunteered, etc. The last time I committed a crime was at age 15 and that was 7 years ago. Hell I haven't even been drunk for 7 years! My "excellent moral character" is present tense and will be backed by my references and employers. So, please be real with me here, go ahead and take out "excellent moral character" and put "good moral character." Presently, how am I doing on getting in?

I think you may be okay. I was arrested for MIP beer when I was 17, but I also had 6 years honorable military service before I applied too.
