Two of our Deputies were involved in what appears to be a suicide by cop today. No LEO's harmed, but they need prayers and good thoughts sent their way for this tough time. From news stories, seems they responded to a suicide threats call, suspect came out the door pointing a gun at them and they fired. Both on paid admin leave as per policy while shoot is investigated. No word on suspect yet.

Here's the link from the local news outlets:

BREAKING: Escambia Deputy Involved Shooting (http://www.northescambia.com/2012/07/breaking-escambia-deputy-involved-shooting)

On a side note, had the displeasure of hearing this one on the radio again. Was halfway in my car when they cancelled the officer down call with word that no officers were injured.

Prayers sent. Hope they get individual counseling (and if they are married, go as couple and as partners with other deputy- should be mandatory if you ask me - I don't know how stuff like htat doesn't change people).

I would also say you had the pleasure of having it cancelled halfway in your car (though I suspect your relief and your adrenaline level didn't coincide for a bit. Hope you get/got some sleep).

998 or 999. Big difference here but can't blame a conservative call out. Don't know if you guys use numbers or plain english. Good that they weren't injured. It's got to be confusing as heck to know who shot what when you hear two of three pistols go off especially if you need more cover.

Glad to hear the good guys are OK.

They are both fine and on paid admin leave pending the outcome of FDLE's investigation. I heard that the suspect succumbed to his wounds and died a short time after getting to the hospital. He got what he wanted, and now the guys are going to have to live with that...

What an A$$HOLE!

I'm also glad they are fine & like some one else stated I hope they get the counseling they will most likely need. Prayers have been sent.
