Hi. I was called already to start the process but am in the process of acquiring the rest of my college credits as I didn't have the necassary credits to start the process.

Their is some things that I am worried about that might pop up on my background check that I am worried will DQ me.

First off let me say I have never been arrested and have no criminal record at all.

Just looking for some honest responses and if I should be worried about getting DQ'd on
any of these and which ones I shouldn't worry about.

1) Back in 2003 and 2004 when I was 19 and 20, I had a mustang that had a loud
exhaust system. I got 2 summonses for my car being too loud and went to court and
paid both fines.

2) I believe it was 2004 or 2005. I was pulled over by a officer on foot patrol and he said that I didn't come to a complete stop at the stop sign and gave me a ticket for it. I
went to fight it at the dmv and saw the judge, and was found NOT guilty and it got
dismissed.

3) In 2003 I got in 2 car accidents and in 2007 I got in 3. One of them which was in
2007 was I hit a pedestrian by accident, it was really dark out and he was wearing all
black and I hit him under 10 mph. I went to the dmv and got my driving record and no
accidents are on my record anymore. Believe they get rid of them after a certain amount of time. They are atleast 5 years old and I haven't got into an accident since.

4) I have a lot of credit card debt but always pay on time and have never been late on any payments. I know I have a good credit report but was wondering if being in debt
can get you DQ'D?

Other than these things their is nothing else i'm worried about. I appreciate the
responses,

Mike.

I'm not a LEO so not going to comment on the serious or not seriousness of incidents but from hearing the officers on this board, I will tell you that disclose, disclose, disclose. Everything you wrote above should be in the BI's application even if expunged or no longer on your record. It can't hurt to disclose all police contact that you recall even if it didn't result in a citation (i.e. passenger in vehicle where driver was arrrested for something and you were sent on your merry way, etc, etc,).

relax. Joey is an expert on NYPD and has experience with them specifically (as do others). They will be along shortly. If you want more immediate attention, you could PM marinepilot or joey to move it to ask a cop which gets more officer traffic. I wouldn't double post though.

1) Not an issue.

2) Not an issue.

3) a)In 2003 I got in 2 car accidents.......not an issue.

3) b) and in 2007 I got in 3.......issue at oral psych. If you were at fault you better pull a certified driving transcript from DMV. Any points, take a defenseive driving class to loose two points. based on this alone, you have had 5 accidents and two tickets in four years. It shows you don't like to follow the law. And if you won't follow it as a citizen, you are likely not to follow it as a cop, and thats a huge problem.

4) Whats your FICO score and total amount of debt? It could be a DQ.

You need a copy of all tickets and court docs showing paid. If an accident, you need a copy of the report and letter from insurance company stating teh claims are closed and you are not under suit.

Thanks for the response joey. No im not under suit on any of the accidents. Two of the accidents was me getting hit and run and getting hit from behind.

Im 15,000 in debt and I believe my fico score is in the 600's because of it. but always
pay on time and never late.

Hey. I was just wondering if I would be disqualified for getting fired at my job. This was because I used my employee discount on a friend. It was 50% off and company policy says only I'm entitled to using it. I'm far from being a bad person and my intent was just to help out a friend, and now i regret doing so because i have tainted my records. I've always wanted to become an NYPD officer and now I fear the opportunity is gone. Can anyone tell me if I'll be disqualified because of my actions.
