Hey guys,

If you have a case involving homicide, narcotics and prostitution (is "prostitution" the correct term in law enforcement?), what divisions / units in an NYPD precinct would handle that case?

Also, is it correct to call them "divisions" or "units"?

Apologies for my ignorance.

Cheers, guys!

M101.

Homicide = Detective Bureau - Homicide Squad

Narcotics = OCCB, Organized Crime Control Bureau

Prostitution = PMD, Public Morals Division...VICE

Also note that in the NYPD, "Units" are smaller subdivisions of larger commands, which may be called by other names (such as "Districts"), which are in turn smaller subdivisions of larger commands called Divisions, which are smaller subdivisions of larger commands called Bureaus. Thus, unitl the Transportation Bureau was reorganized in 2011, the Bus Unit and the Taxi Unit were subordinate to the Surface Transportation Enforcement District, which was subordinate to the Traffic Enforcement Division, which was subordinate to the Transportation Bureau.
