New to the forum, ex deputy sheriff and corrections officer but that was many hears ago. I am writing a book and looking for information pertaining to situation that I never came across in my career.
My character attempts suicide and is placed on a 24 hour hold at the hospital. Local law enforcement (Vermont) are looking to question him as a suspect in his wifes killing, not arrest him. Do the police need to wait until thier suspect is released from the hospital to question him or can they attempt to question him while under psych hold.
Thank you so much.

Welcome to RealPolice! We're glad to have you and happy to help you out with questions you may have regarding your book, but we have a pretty strict policy here regarding the selection of usernames.
People who select usernames which imply a connection to Law Enforcement have to meet a standard set of criteria. I need you to look over here (http://www.realpolice.net/forums/general-law-enforcement-topics-discussion-2/84360-verified-leo-guidelines.html) and let me know if you meet the listed guidelines for verification as a current/former LEO. If so, you can contact one of our verifiers (http://www.realpolice.net/forums/restricted-areas-supporting-members-96/96880-supporting-member-leo-verification.html) with your info so they can get that ball rolling.
If you don't meet the listed requirements, no big deal. We're still glad to have you, and you can just PM me back with a new username and we'll get you switched ASAP.
If you have any questions, please let me know.
