I couldn't have been more impressed. Great plot, plenty of action, a touch of humor. The acting was top notch.
Children may find it a bit boring. It's 2 hours and 22 minutes long, with most of the action toward the end.
Loki was the perfect villian and the lad they have playing Bruce Banner did a smashing job. It's a tough role to get down.
My only hang up was Tony Stark, he just gets more and more full of himself every movie. It's borderline obnoxious now, where as before it was tolerable and made his character more real.
I'd give it a 9/10.

I'm not much of a fan of these action-hero films but I saw the film this past weekend and thought it was an epic win.
Pretty well everything that happens is firmly grounded in who these people are, not what they can do; I liked the constant wise-azzery and banter between the characters.

I love the movie, and really enjoy Tony Stark in the movie. He is full of himself, but I think it goes along very well with his character personality.
Also, I got to watch it in IMAX 3-D. A W E S O M E.

It just seemed like RD Jr was forcing it. Compared to before it seemed very natrual. I was glad when he finally knocked the "edge" off his ego. He went back to being "normal" Tony.
I haven't seen it yet but I'm sure I will at some point.
The OCD part of me has issues with the make up of the team (Fwiw I had issues with the line up of the original Avengers in the comics too - Thor, Hulk, Iron Man, Ant Man, and Wasp who were soon joined by Captain America). IMO, too big a disparity in powers/abilities. On the movie team, you have basically a demi-god (Thor), a super-enhanced human (Hulk), a moderately enhanced human (Captain America), a rich (normal) guy with a fancy suit (Iron Man), and two above average but still regular humans (Hawkeye and Black Widow). And this team is supposed to go heads up against Loki (another demi-god) and other Asgardian realm/universe types (other demi-gods and close to demi-godlike beings)? I just don't see it happening.
IMO, Hawkeye and Black Widow on that squad is like me and my brother playing with Magic Johnson, Kareem, and James Worthy on the 80's Lakers. If we play against a strong 3 person team, we'll probably be just fine. Against a strong 4 person team, maybe ok. A strong 5 person team (or more), the Scrubs are gonna get WORKED.
Maybe, hopefully, I'll be pleasantly surprised.
I loved it. I agree with Samuel about the disparety but I think that was the point originally... team work and showing that no one person is 'above' anyone else blah blah blah. All in all it was a great movie and I'm going to watch it over and over... at least the parts with Scarlett in tight arse leather suit!!!! :)
