Tomorrow morning I get to go over to Columbia to register at the South Carolina Criminal justice Academy. My recruiter is trying to get me into the May 14 or June 4 class. Once we get that, then I'll know when I start the pre-training time at the Dept. i'm excited to finally have an official start date, but a little nervous at the same time.
I'll let you know what I find out.

I'm at the academy right now myself for two weeks for advanced training. Best of luck in your class. In the 5.5 years I've been on, the academy has really changed for the better. I don't agree with some of their changes, but I know new officers are coming out with more knowledge than we did, even just a short time ago. I think it had to do with the academy becoming it's own entity, and no longer being a part of DPS, but that's just a guess.

My class begins May 14. I start at the dept. on Monday to start learning DT and everything else they can teach me in 2weeks. I've never done anything one on one physical like DT, so I hope I do well and can learn it quickly. I went through AF basic training before they started doing war weeks, so didn't do any kind of hand to hand combat while enlisted. That will be the biggest training shock I think (since they don't Tazer there ;) ). I'm sure my 12 weeks will be very eye opening, I'll learn everything that I can and do the best that I can. I've heard that alot has changed there.
I went shopping for boots at Lawmen's and Dana supply today, their selections were dissapointing, but I got some Rocky Alpha Force that I think should work well.
Life is about to get very exciting for me.
