Hello all! I am still serving in the Army Reserves as an MP, and for this upcoming training period I will be giving a class on apprehending a violent subject. I would be greatly thankful if any of you LEO's or anybody else could offer me some information on this topic or direct me to some teaching aid of some sort. If you would prefer to PM me any information that would be great as well.

I appreciate your help with this! Thanks!

The Army making someone teach a class they have no experience with, huh?

I would recommend reaching out (offline) to agencies in your area. Going into apprehending techniques goes into LE tactics, which we do no post here publicly (and as well-meaning I'm sure you are, we have nothing to verify you being who you say you are for info to be sent via PM).

So what leads the Army to think you have any experience in this area ? Were you trained in this during your AIT ? Why would they then ask someone do do this if they KNEW that you didn't have the background ?

Did you tell them you have no experience and that they would be better served having someone else do thi ? Most Guard or Reserve units with MP's usually have a few actual Police Officer in the group. Is this the case with your unit ? If so, ask them for help.

You arrest them just like non-violent subject. If they comply, you handcuff them without using force. If they resist, you use force.

This.

You cannot "apprehend" someone who is being violent. First you achieve control, THEN you can apprehend them.
