I am hoping that the title will attract a few more people. More people=more knowledge/opinions. My name is James, and I am currently in the hiring process for Tucson Police Department in Arizona. So far I have completed the written and physical tests and the oral board. After nearly 1,200 people who applied, I am one of 60 remaining on a list (I am in the top 5/60) and the polygraph/BI are going to be conducted in March. I can't wait because I have wanted to do this since I was a child playing with cops cars on the bedroom floor.

A little about me: I was born and raised in NY and moved after high school to attend bootcamp aboard Paris Island and become a Marine. After 4 years in the Marine Corps and 2 combat deployments as a radio operator (calling in millions of dollars of explosives to be dropped on bad guys) I got out and moved with my wife to Arizona. I am 25 years old and I am very excited to be this close to my ultimate dream job. Right now I work for a financial company and work on a computer ALL day in my cubicle. Not my kind of job and I can't wait to start a job that can change on a daily basis.

I have been checking out this website for about 6 months, but just created a username about 2 weeks ago. It's awesome to have a place like this now for people with so many questions and I am sure that if I am fortunate enough to get the job, I will still use this sight. Thank you in advance for all of your help.

Thanks guys. Academy starts in July, hopefully I am there. I am a little worried about the BI, though I have nothing major. I wish this process didn't take so long. I want this so bad I wonder if sometimes it is kind of strange haha. I already have more than 50 police codes memorized, phonetic alphabet (different than the military) and when and how to take action. When I am driving, I try to make myself think like a police officer and wow does that open your eyes to so much more around you. Just today on my way home I saw an individual smoking marijuana while riding his bike. CITIZENS ARREST! No, instead I went on my way. This may sound funny of me and I am sure (I know) some of you LEO will read this and laugh at me, cause I know when I was a Marine and I spoke to people who wanted to do what I do some of the things they said made me laugh, but the truth is I not only want to be a police officer, I want to be of the very best in my city. Why wait til after the academy to try and act/think like an officer? Do it now.

Welcome!! Thanks for your service! I'd point out that the title of your thread is a Navy recruitment movie line being uttered by a Marine but the irony would be lost somewhere in the high and tight area.

/There's a "the Navy taught me not to piss on my hands" joke in there somewhere.
//I'll be here all week. Try the prime rib, it's fantastic.

BTW, D-M used to fly lots of A-10 sorties. You can still call in ordinance. Ask for the 30mm Gatling with HEI :)
