Well, a while back I know I requested prayers for my mother who lives up in the Chicago burbs due to her having blood clots in her legs. I thank all that gave them and ask for more as now she's run out of options and is having to have her left leg amputated as the clots have become so bad they are no longer able to control them with medicine or any other procedures. She, of course, is upset about it, but I'm hoping she comes to realize that better to lose her leg than her life.

I'm heading up that way come Friday. Got a depo in the morning and then picking up a rental car right after and heading out. Swinging through Atlanta (Marietta) to pick up my aunt (mom's sister) and then on to Chicago.

I'll keep every one posted as I'm bringing my laptop.

Sorry to hear that, MP. That has to be traumatic for your Mom. She and your family are definitely in my prayers.

Thanks everyone for the thoughts and prayers, I'm sure they are helping!

After a 16 1/2 hour drive up (thru an ice storm in Indiana!) my aunt and I made if safely and in time for the surgery. Surgery went well, the docs were able to leave about 3 inches below her knee, so that will make it a bit easier for her to get an artificial leg if she's so inclined. Yesterday they say her up in bed and today the plan is to get her up and moving with a walker! (But NOT one of the "walkers" from "The Walking Dead!").

On another note, talked with Switch today and planning on getting together for some beers and blues tomorrow! Pictures will be taken!!

Glad things went relatively smoothly - hope the rest of the transition/adjustment will be good too!

Yeah, a below the knee amputation is much easier to deal with. Thanks for the update... Hope the recovery continues.

Latest update on my mom:

I talked to her yesterday afternoon on the phone (first time in a LONG time, we've been having some problems communicating lately) and she sounds like she's doing great! She's been moved into an in-patient, intense rehab center and they already have her wheeling around in a wheelchair by herself (she can't get into it yet, but once there she can get around). She also said that she can "walk" up to 15 feet with a walker!

Just thought I'd let y'all know that the prayers and good thoughts have been working!! Thank you all who offered them up! :)
