I recently acquired a 1911 as a gift. I imagine there are a number of guys on the board who own one (or two, or three).

Can you gents recommend any good 1911 forums or websites for information, questions, etc.

I've google'd it of course, but there's so many 1911 forums out there it would be a little annoying to sign up for them all lol.

Thanks guys.

M1911.org, 1911 forum are excellent resources for everything 1911. The 1911 platform has withstood the test of time. It is the finest fighting pistol (when properly trained) one will find. Good Luck to you. And remember, one can never have too many 1911's.

I'm still wearing a black arm-band in mourning in having to return my Springfield Operator when I quit SOG. You think, after 10 years, I would have the option to buy it. :( Now it's just me and my Glock. While a fine weapon, it's no 1911.

What kind did you get? I consider myself an expert in 1911's although I wouldn't testify to that.

My father gave me a Kimber CDP II (full size/gov't) for Christmas.

It was an extremely personalized gift with the standard grips replaced with Goncalo Alves engraved grips, one with a Navy seal (emblem) with my commissioning date, the other with the FBI seal with my sworn date/class number, and my Police department's police badge engraved on the slide itself. Beautifully done.

I have yet to shoot it - looking forward to it.

Thanks. My wife was good enough to pixelate the dates/serials for online post so I thought I'd share some pics. The guy who did the engraving did a great job imho!.
