Well, I did it. Tonight I bagged my 100th DUI Arrest for the year. The first from my department to do it for the year. One more may do it, but other than that, he is it. I still got a week to go, so I am going to try and bust more out. But, it's a great feeling to know 100 drunk drivers were taken off the road this year. My Sgt, Lt., Captain, and Major congradulated me on the goal tonight. I'm quite stoked. :biggrin5:

I had a hell of a shift to be honest. Made my 100th DUI arrest, and then on another stop, me and one of my partners from Traffic nailed two people to the wall. He got the driver for a bunch of criminal traffic charges, and I hammered the passenger when I searched and found a ton of prescription pills on her. Huge bag, and equipment to distribute with. Everything packaged and ready to sell. Late shift, but well worth it.

Grrrrrrrrrrrrreeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaattttttttt job and EXCELLENT work!

Getting to think about it, it was probably the largest dope arrest of my career. Two milestones for me last night. One of the best shifts I've had.

Tell us the truth though, you'll lose half of those in court :)

*knock on wood* I've yet to loose one of them. They've all pled out, and not one of them have been dropped by the State Attorney's Office. One of the prominent defense attorney firms for DUI's in my county (two brothers, both used to be prosecutors, both are stand up guys) have told me that I put together great DUI cases, and they usually end up advising their clients to take a plea deal when they get the report and see my name on it. I've had many conversations with them, with one ending in "I have family out here as well, and I don't want these f*ckers on the road with them, I just make sure the rules are folowed. You do great work, and put together good cases. You make our jobs easy." Hell, one exchange was over a legal issue I was talking with them over (driver's license admin suspension issue) and told me how I could do a bit better next time (had an issue with an observation period), what they *could* contest, how I could prevent it, and how it would end in the hearing. Both are well respected by others in the Traffic Unit.

I don't know if I'll hit this again next year. I'll be gone most of the month of Feb. for training, and I may end up going to DRE this year as well. I plan on using this year to do a bunch of training.
