Dept is switching to Plain leather duty gear, Nothing seems to hold up.

Dept. Is researching New leather gear and the stuff so far that they have tried has not held up. Whats everyone useing and how do you like it?

I personaly have had great luck with Safirland ( There older super duty molded stuff don't believe they make it any more) Desantis boston leather and perfect fit.

Almost everything now is synthetic or at least part synthetic. Leather looks good as long as the owner MAINTAINS it. I have yet to see more than a small handful of guys/gals cleaning/waxing/brushing/buffing their leather. Meaning it looks like crap after a few years in wear spots. Safarilamintae is their new sythetci line that holds up preety good. I plain out abuse my stuff and use it hard. So far their crap is holding up VERY well after three years of use.

My Desantis crap looks like typical leather after 3 years....worn. I can polish it up, but that rubs off on clothes and eventually wears off.

Boston leather has nice dog stuff and belts, but I am not a fan of their duty gear. When you hold it, it looks/feels cheap.

    Joeyd6,
I aggrree with you, I have never had a problem or saw to many with Desantis my self, Boston leather makes some nice belts but there cuff cases are huge.

The bosses also thought the same thing, but after four years of testing almost every item has broke, cuff cases, hoslters and mag holder couldn't even make a day at the range, flaps were ripping off leather was peeling snaps were breaking and stuff was just cracking. DOn Humes said they fixed the prob and it keeps doing it ( They now admitted there is a problem and can't seem to fix it), BRand new stuff out of teh bag after a few cycles in there normal use movement was breaking. Plus I hate the way Don Humes looks and feel.

Everyone now mostly carriers Safirland or DeSantis in Basket Weave and that stuff has held up great, If it was up to me thats what I d go with but just in Plain Leather. I don't have final Decision I just get to put my input in.

I would then go with Safariland LAMINATE! COmes in multiple finishes, including basket, plain, hi-gloss and stx (matte tactical). Looks like leather till you touch it or use it.

Safariland is by far the best gear, it really holds up. We wear high gloss and safariland makes the best high gloss stuff. Why did they decide to go with plain leather? Personally I think that is the cheapest looking stuff no matter what brand you get.
