    wallets

I rarely post here, but read often. Anyways, I've run into a bit of a strange and somewhat petty problem. For the past few years I've carried a badge in my wallet using one of the simple Gall's badge wallets. The problem is that the badge pokes holes in my credit cards and ID's. I would prefer to keep my badge in a wallet instead of having to carry a wallet and a badge clip thing, but I can't seem to find a wallet that "protects" my cards from the badge. Any suggestions?

A lot of officers keep their credentials in a separate wallet.

I know that is what 95% of my NYPD brothers and sisters do. And in my past and present federal agencies......everyone kept both seperate!

It is not a easy thing to get used to, but God forbid you get mugged one day or held hostage and they collect wallets. Mayeb you can't get to your gun that day right away, or maybe you just don't want them to know your a cop. Easy to give them what they want and if they check, the see yoru Jos Schmoe and move on, giving you time to get out Samantha (my guns name) and take care of business.

In order to carry off duty, I have to have my department ID and badge. I don't like the badge clips that go on your belt, so I got a badge wallet.

I carry a separate badge wallet that has my badge on one side and a slot with a plastic cover for my department ID. I wouldn’t carry my badge on a clip on my belt off duty.

I agree with Joeyd6’s reasoning in his recent post.

I do the same. Seperate wallet. Not many on my shift do that surprisingly. And when I mention to them to get another wallet, they give me a "It's more convienant to just have one" excuse.

Perfect fit makes a nice one molded to your badge, I have had mine for the last 7 years and it still loooks new. They will put your dept name inside also.

Blackington makes "Flat" low profile badges for wallets. No pins or protrusions. They also make half-size badges for wearing on a neck chain which is my preferred method. (Very helpful for us, our new badge is the size of a turkey platter) ;)
Don't try and outweird me, I find weirder things than you in my breakfast burrito.

I tried a badge wallet for a while and it just didn't work out.. My badge is shaped funny and the curve of the badge just doesn't make it practical. I got an undercover badge holder and wear it around my kneck now. Seems like it would be easier to identify yourself offduty if you had it around your neck to instead of trying to fumble with a wallet.
