Can't speak to the NE academy, but I've been through an APOSTC academy elsewhere in the state. I can give you insight into what to expect in general terms for an APOST academy, but it would help if you ask specific questions of what you want to know (i.e. if you're interested in what to expect from the classes or training, I can answer that, but if you want to know where to get a good dinner in and around the NE AL academy I'm not much help).

Is it a para military type academy? What is the typical physical training like?
All APOST academies are paramilitary (i.e. daily PT, daily uniform inspections, getting yelled at when you f-up, standing at attention for instructors/officers, etc.). The trooper academy at Selma is the most militaristic (I believe you also stay in barracks over night there as well), but expect the NE academy to be somewhat paramilitary in structure.
Physical training is dependent on which instructor does your PT. I went to another APOST academy and our PT instructors were a former Army Ranger and an academy Sgt who was also a SWAT member on a local department, so it was fairly intensive in calisthetics and running. Just depends, but be sure to go into the academy in good shape.

Northeast is pretty agressive with the PT. Be prepared when you go, and they will expect you to improve while there.

Thanks for the info guys. I appreciate it.
I just finished the Academy in Montgomery and have to say that you best bet is to make sure you can EXCEDE the minimum standards before you attend! As far as I know none of the acadamies here in Alabama are easy, so just be prepared!
